Media Team

The City Point Media Team is a passionate group of individuals with a creative eye and a heart for storytelling. We capture and create content for our City Point community to help tell the story of who we are as a church as we live Life To The Fullest. Whether you are a beginner or have experience in photography, videography, editing, or copywriting, there is a place for you on this team. We love training and mentoring people to develop their skills and become part of a team that creates content that informs, inspires, and moves people.

Our photographers and videographers are the eyes of the team, capturing moments and events in a way that reflects the spirit and essence of our church. Our photo and video editors use their skills to bring the content to life, while our graphic designers and copywriters craft compelling stories and content that connect and engage our church community. Together, we aim to produce high-quality visual and written content showcasing our church community's vibrancy and diversity, and we do it all with a lot of heart and dedication.

Join our Media Team and be a part of this passionate group that captures and communicates the heart of our church. We can't wait to work with you and learn from each other while developing skills that will make a difference in our community.

First things first: Whether it's a banner image for your website, a promotion for an upcoming baptism or some welcome slides on the screen, you have a story to tell and you need to communicate it clearly with your visitors. Get out there and take photos of people in your community smiling, laughing, chatting or relating over coffee. Show what being in community at City Point actually looks like!

People are designed for relationship and will respond far better to the smiling faces of people at your church than to a picture of our church building. Remember to smile and wave while you're out there shooting as smiles are contagious!

Practical Tips
  • Body text
  • Candid moments are always the best - wait for the moment
  • Ask a group of people to quickly snap a photo
  • Foyer shots are great opportunity for smiling faces

Media Team Training

Take some time to watch the training videos linked below. This will allow you to learn some basics of photography and start getting comfortable with your camera. Once you have completed the training videos go ahead and practice some photography on your own time to start putting these new skills to the test! Contact your team lead at this point to get scheduled for a weekend service to begin your training and onboarding.
We will use a shadow training method that will look a little bit like this:
1. WATCH ME - Train one or more times following a current team member or leader during a service to watch what they do and ask any questions you  may have.
2. WATCH YOU - Train one or more times with a current team member or leader shadowing you, answering any questions you may have and giving you tips and pointers throughout the day.
3. Start serving on your own when you and your team leader feel like you are ready and comfortable.
Auditoriums are some of the best places to show off how God is moving in your church—but they can be the most difficult to photograph. In this training, Life.Church Staff Photographer Robby Doland shows us how to work with tricky lighting situations and methods for successful auditorium photo editing.

Photography Tutorial: Capturing Baptisms

Baptisms are incredible life-change moments—they deserve to be captured well! In this video training from Life.Church, you will learn how to successfully light, shoot, and edit baptism photos that will forever commemorate an important milestone for every believer.
We capture baptisms on photo with the Canon 1DX and T3i, and on video with the Marshall Electronics CV502-MB/M Mini Cam.

Photography Tutorial: Lobby Photography

The most exciting relational community in your church is happening in lobbies. In this training, Life.Church Staff Photographer Robby Doland walks through how to capture those great moments in your lobby with both natural lighting and flashes.

Looking To Purchase Gear?

If you are looking to purchase camera gear here are some pieces I would recommend. But there's no need to go out and buy anything right away. We have equipment you can use as you get started serving at the church. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll help you talk through what you're needing.
