Update from Pastor Julie:
Day 21
Some days not much changes so there isn’t always something to report on. Eddie has been stable which is good. Today, he had surgery to have a balloon pump inserted in his chest. It was a successful procedure although he is in quite a bit of pain. The pain should subside over the next couple of days. Hopefully, he will be back up and walking again soon. He is currently on the Transplant list so we now just wait for a heart.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support. It’s so felt and appreciated!!
Here’s how you can continue to pray::
1. For the pain to subside from the surgery
2. An agreement for post care with the hospital and insurance
3. Strength for Eddie – he needs endurance
4. Pray for healing
Update from Pastor Julie:
DAY 15
Each day is different and has its ups and downs. Today, Eddie has been more tired but he’s stable which is great! I’ve been told to expect there to be some ups and downs during this process. Eddie is on Day 15 in ICU so I feel that in and of itself is very tiring.
Some good news to share…We were able to get an agreement between the hospital and insurance!! Which means he was able to begin the testing needed to get on the transplant list. This was a HUGE hurdle!! Thank you for all of the prayers!! We can feel them daily.
Here’s how you can pray:
1. Pray for the right heart match for Eddie – the right timing
2. Pray for Eddie’s strength
3. Pray for favor as we continue to navigate the hospital and our shared insurance program – we need them to work together throughout this treatment process and into post-op care.
An update from Pastor Julie:
Each day we’ve seen the hand of God at work in Eddie. Specifically, we’ve watched God answer the prayers that you’ve been praying.
We’ve been believing for the fluid that’s around his heart and in his body to go down  – and wow! That’s been one of the biggest prayers we’ve seen God answer. There is still fluid there but it’s not as severe as it was a few days ago. He’s also still able to get up and walk around a couple of times a day.
Treatment hasn’t started yet but there is light at the end of the tunnel with the agreement almost complete between the hospital and the shared medical program.
Thank you for the continued prayers and support!
An update from Pastor Julie:
“When you have a good day in ICU – it’s a really good day! Pastor Eddie sat up in the chair most of the day and went for a hallway walk twice!
I have to say that I’m so incredibly grateful for the team of nurses and doctors that are caring for him. This team consists of some of the kindest and most caring medical staff that I’ve ever talked to. I would name them all but I’m afraid I would leave someone out – but they know who they are so thank you! 🙂
How can you pray?
1. Pray for a signed agreement – which should happen soon!
2. Give the doctors wisdom on his course of treatment
3. Continue to pray for the fluid to go down and strength for Eddie

An update from Pastor Julie:

“I can see the prayers at work today!! It was a much better day in terms of Eddie’s energy and his breathing. He didn’t need any breathing assistance today at all – a huge victory for him!

We are still waiting for an agreement with the insurance company and hospital before they will begin treatment. Right now, they are administering medications to help but there are other things they will do once the agreement is signed. Thank you for your continued prayers!

An update from Pastor Julie:

“This week has been full of challenges and the unknown. Pastor Eddie is still in Cardiac ICU and though he is still critical – they have him stable which is a huge victory! I have seen the hand of God working each and every day. I can certainly tell you that when the pandemic began, I had no idea that we would end up in a situation like this. Despite that, I can feel God’s presence and peace surrounding our family.

Pastor Eddie is awake and they even got him up to walk around a bit today. The doctors seem pleased with his progress so far. He isn’t going backwards today so that’s great news!!

Here’s a couple more ways y’all can pray:

  1. Favor with the hospital and our shared insurance program.
  2. That there will be an agreement/contract signed by our insurance so treatment can begin.
  3. Fluid around Pastor Eddie’s heart to go down.
  4. Strength in his heart and for Pastor Eddie to feel encouraged.

Thank you for your love, care, prayers, support and declarations over Pastor Eddie’s healing.”

A quick update, many of you have asked if there’s any way you can help the Woods family financially. One way to do so is to help with medical costs associated with his heart transplant.

Pastor Eddie and his family are on a non-traditional shared insurance plan. Due to the nature of how shared insurance plans work, negotiations are still underway between insurance and the hospital but have not yet come to an agreement. (An agreement could still be reached and other insurrance options may be secured that could pay for the procedure).

Regardless, the ongoing medical costs for heart transplants result in what a medical professional said would cost tens of thousands of dollars per year in prescription drug costs alone post transplant for the rest of his life. The cash price cost of the heart transplant is $465,862. This cost would cover his transplant and medical care during his hospital stay.

There is a GoFundMe page that has been setup where you can visit and make a donation: Heart For Eddie GoFundMe

Thank you for your prayers, words of encouragement and donations during this time. We know God’s got this, let’s continue joining together and watch what God can do!

Philippians 4:19 “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

Hey Church, we just want to take a moment to update you all on a situation that has transpired over the weekend.

On Friday night, Pastor Eddie was taken to an ER in McKinney due to increasing heart and breathing issues that began earlier in the week and continued to worsen. He was admitted and tested for COVID first – which came back negative. He was moved into ICU and by Saturday morning, his condition had worsened. He has been transferred to another hospital in Dallas and currently has a team of heart specialists working with him.  Right now, doctors are saying that his heart has not responded to medication and that he will need a heart transplant. It takes about a week or two to get prepared and run tests prior to a transplant. After that, it is just a matter of waiting on a donor heart. The recovery time after a heart transplant is around 6-8 weeks in the hospital. You’re probably asking what this all means.

First off, Pastor Eddie wanted everyone to know that City Point Church is not going to stop.

  • We will keep preaching.
  • We will keep ministering.
  • We will keep worshipping.
  • We will keep loving.
  • We will keep caring.

We know the enemy would love to see these things stop, but they will not! We refuse to give in to fear & worry and will continue to press forward. We know that without a doubt, God is moving and doing things behind the scenes right now that we can’t even see.

Second, we understand that many of you would like to know how you can help Pastor Eddie, Julie and the Woods family at this time. Below are several ways you can do so:

  • PRAY. Psalm 34:17 says, “The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.” Prayer works and is powerful. We ask everyone in the church to pray for Pastor Eddie and declare scripture over him, specifically focusing in on these 5 areas (See Prayer Guide Section)
  • MEAL TRAIN. If you would like to provide a meal for the Woods family during this time, we’ve set up a link for you to do so: Prepared meals and food deliveries can be delivered to the church Monday-Thursday before 5pm. We ask that if you are providing a meal for Friday, Saturday or Sunday, please do so in the form of a Grubhub gift card. Gift cards can be sent to
  • LETTERS TO EDDIE. Because of COVID-19, we are unable to visit Pastor Eddie in the hospital and are very limited as to what we can send him. Things like flowers or other gifts aren’t allowed right now. However, one thing that is allowed is handwritten letters. If you would like to write words of encouragement to Pastor Eddie, please drop off the letters at the church so we can mail them off together. You can also email us your letter at if you are unable to drop the letter off. We will make sure to print it off and mail it with the others.

Last thing, if you have any other questions, you can reach out to the staff at We, as a staff, are asking that you refrain from reaching out to the Woods family during this time. With all that’s going on, they may not be able to respond in a timely fashion. That being said, Pastor Eddie, Julie, and the family have been overwhelmed by the incredible outpouring of prayer, love, and support they’ve already received. They are extremely grateful for all the prayers and intercession on their behalf.

We understand how powerful prayer is, especially when an entire church body comes together in unity to pray over something or someone. Below are specific scriptures, prayer points and messages that are meant to help equip you as you pray for Pastor Eddie.

1. Pray For Healing

Nothing is impossible with God, so we continue to believe and thank God for healing Pastor Eddie’s heart.

1 Peter 2:24  “He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.”

Psalm 41:3 “The Lord nurses them when they are sick and restores them to health.”

Psalm 107:19-21 “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and ahe saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death. Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them.

2. Pray For Strength

Pastor Eddie is extremely weak right now. We need to intercede on his behalf and ask God to give him strength.

Romans 8:11 “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.”

Isaiah 40:29 “He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.”

Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

3. Pray For Peace

The Woods family needs peace that surpasses all understanding as they navigate this difficult time together.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.”

Philippians 4:7 “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

John 16:33 “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

4. Pray For Wisdom

Specifically for the heart specialists who are in charge and are watching over Pastor Eddie.

James 1:5 “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”

Exodus 31:3 “I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability and expertise in all kinds of crafts.”

1 Corinthians 1:30 “God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.”

5. Pray For Provision

Favor with insurance and hospital, finances and for God to bring Pastor Eddie the right heart.

Philippians 4:19 “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”

Romans 8:32 “Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?”
