Eggcellent Family Adventure

Eggcellent Family Adventure

This Saturday

You are invited to the City Of Allen’s Eggcellent Family Adventure this Saturday, April 12th from 9 a.m. to Noon. This is a FREE community event with an expected attendance of more than 2,500. Bring your Easter basket and come stroll through Allen Civic Plaza. Kids can visit tables hosted by civic organizations and local businesses to receive eggs, candy and other goodies. The event would not be complete, of course, without a visit from the Easter Bunny. There is a lot more to enjoy too with great activities like games, crafts, face painting and a bounce house! This is a great opportunity to get to know our community a little better. City Point is sponsoring a booth so please stop by and say “hi”. See ya there!

April News – City Point Church

April Series at City Point Church

April Series – We began a new series last week called – “Jesus Is”. In this series we will take a look at how religion, culture and society have influenced our view of Jesus. It is amazing how many of the subtle influences have defined our view. We will look at what scripture says as we approach the celebration of Easter. Our desire is that this series will help awaken you to not only what Jesus did on the cross but also how he lived. There are many little things in scripture that give us a snap shot of how Jesus truly lived a life like no other.

Celebrate Easter ast City Point

The BEST Easter ever! That’s a bold statement but we believe it can also be a true one. The real truth is that two millennium ago something took place that has forever changed the world. We will celebrate Easter this year “family style”. Our desire is that the entire family will be refreshed this Easter. We have a GIANT Easter egg hunt for kids of all ages and a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny (shhhh…it’s a secret). We will also have “prize eggs” for the kiddos to win something extra special and a couple of bounce houses to help the kids burn off a little Easter candy energy. Invite an un-churched friend this year as we celebrate the best news mankind has ever heard. We will have three service options on April 20th – 9:30am – 11:00am  – 12:30pm

Movie Night In The Park – We are excited about our 2nd annual City Point Movie Night at Bethany Lakes Park in Allen on Friday, May 2nd at 6:30. We have rented out the pavilion and Club House for a fun night out.  We have also asked Fun Flicks to set up a giant outdoor screen for us to watch a family-friendly movie. We will have hot dogs, burgers and drinks. Bring a football, frisbee, blanket & lawn chair. This is event is open to anyone – so feel free to invite your friends. We will cook out and the movie will start at 8:30. We know it will be a perfect Friday night out! (also – for those with babies the Club House will have A/C if it’s hot outside)

Summer Camp- There are few events that can shape a child’s life like Summer Camp. Over the past 20 years I have been part of many youth and children’s camps. I have consistently seen kids lives changed year after year. They commit their lives to Christ, receive life changing ministry, gain direction for the future and experience a deeper love for Christ. I know most families work hard to make their budget go as far as you can but I believe summer camp is worth the extra effort.  Your child’s life will be FOREVER impacted.

Grades 7th – 12th – July 14th-18th
We have selected a youth camp that touches the lives of our students right were they are. Our students face so many issues today that they need relevant and powerful ministry. We will be going to Youth For the Nations in Dallas on the CFNI campus. It’s going to be a life changing and super fun week! Sign up now as space is limited.  A non-refundable deposit of $25 is due by April 27th. The total cost of youth camp is $250. Sign up at Uprise Youth on Sunday nights or at the Information table on Sunday mornings.

Baby/Child Dedication – If you have not dedicated your child we would love to be a part of that special day. Please email us today and we can set up a Sunday for your dedication. Please express your interest by letting us know and  Email us

Jesus the Hog Hunter??

Naked, homeless, broken and out of control. That’s the description of a man in Luke chapter  8. He was not defined by what he did for a living or even the family he was related to but the brokenness of his life. He was only known by what had taken over his life. We all, at some point, could be defined by our darkest moment. You may have been severely depressed, addicted, broken, divorced, bankrupt and the list could go on. The grace of God sees past what others see and sees who we really are. Jesus saw someone that could be restored from the brutal master of sin and bondage.  Jesus set him free, and in a very dramatic way, by casting the legion of demons into a herd of pigs.  His deliverance was so dramatic that it actually scared his village. They were used to the crazy man and now the new sane man before them scared them. In a broken world, many times people don’t know what to do with a person that has been made whole. I think it is because the new whole person is like a mirror reflecting back at them what God wants to do in their lives. It wasn’t long before the town totally rejected Jesus and the change he could bring to their lives. The once demon possessed man begged to go with Jesus. However, Jesus refused his request. He sent the man back and told him to tell his story to everyone. This is the power of our testimony. We may know people that say they don’t like “church” or are even afraid of the change that would confront them if they go. They rejected Jesus but they could not ignore the brother, friend and neighbor that had been set free. You are a voice of God’s grace to the people in your world. They may formally say they reject Jesus, but they accept you. Use that access to bring them closer.

Easter is coming, statistics tell us it is the best chance you have of getting a YES to come to church. Jesus set you free for a reason; use your story to build His kingdom.

But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? Romans 10:14
